NOBLE SQUARE/

Named after the Chicago neighbourhood synonymous with the city's underground music scene, Noble Square Recordings was the brainchild Ricardo Miranda (Latin Soul Brothas). The idea for a label aiming to embody the reality and roots of Chicago's underground musical heritage was born in 2000 and came to fruition seven years later with the release of ‘Hypocrisity' an anti-tribute to the wannabes and 2-bit hustlers.

The label serves as a showcase for memorable music grounded in Chicago's strong tradition of stylistic fusions thus transcending the ‘useless labels' of post nineties music culture. Noble Square Recordings put out material that appeals to not only the dancefloor, but also the guy on the street with the boombox, the weekend cruiser in his big Motown car and the headphone listener.

The label is an outlet for Miranda's creative projects such as Latin Soul Brothas, Noble Jaxx and YOnuRican, also gracing the label with their skills and techniques are artists like Glenn Underground John Crockett, Gene King, and G Marcell with more to come as the label gains traction.

At present Noble Square offers digital releases with a view to meet the challenge of publishing music in the digital age with the pragmatism required for longevity in the business. Miranda asserts however, in true chi-town purist style "vinyl is the ultimate goal".

Keep a keen eye on these guys and expect the unexpected.
