JAZZCOTECH DANCERS LINKS:

Perry Louis is the founder and leader of JazzCotech Dancers, a collective of Jazz Dancers from different parts of the clubbing world. As individuals, JazzCotech Dancers are all 'Clubbers' who have had no or very little dance training, from different social and cultural backgrounds.

As a group the JazzCotech Dancers have appeared at all major international Jazz and music festivals; e.g. St Lucia, Montreux, Furano, North Sea and Vienne Jazz festivals, as well as Phoenix, Isle of White and Glastonbury festivals. They have danced with countless Jazz and Funk bands and have supported well-known artists such as James Brown, Maceo Parker, Jamiroquai, Incognito, Mark Murphy, Roy Ayers and Jon Hendricks, to name but a few.

In 1996, Perry had an idea of having a Dance Group host a regular club night and caught the interest of the Jazz Café promoter and thus Messin' Around was born. Messin' Around has become the longest running Saturday night club session with a strict old school Jazz, Funk and Soul Music policy in central London.

Now based at the legendary 100 Club, the sessions were and still are so successful that it published 5 Messin' Around compilations as well as a limited edition 7" and a couple of 12" releases. Based on the success of Messin' Around, Perry Louis then set up 3 further successful club events:

  • Shiftless Shuffle - A monthly Sunday afternoon Dancefloor Jazz Session in Soho (London), featuring an hour long workshop in Street-Fusion Jazz Dance, followed by 4 hours of Jazz Dance clubbing; which has featured Paul Murphy, Gilles Peterson, Sylvester, Patrick Forge, Kevin Beadle, Snowboy, Bob Jones, Eric X, Nik Hosier, Simon Mansell and many more.
  • Weak At The Knees - A monthly club session, which has been classified an "All you can handle selection of Jazz Funk, Soul, Funk and Boogie" and which, due to its London success, now runs quarterly in Glasgow, Featuring, Lloyd the Boogie boy, Ronnie Cold sweat, Perry Louis, Colin & Nicco.
  • Bustin' Loose - A Mixed music policy session set up in Perry's home town of Luton under the 'Focus on Jazz' banner. Bustin' Loose is a program set up by Perry Louis which includes live music events, club nights and Jazz Dance lessons. Bustin' Loose features a local BBC 3 Counties Radio DJ, a DJ from Birmingham and of course Perry Louis. The session has been going since 2006 and it's music policy of "anything that's good and danceable" encompasses old and nuskool Jazz, Funk and Soul, attracting a crowd of clubbers coming from all over the UK.
