JAZZ ON THE ROAD - AFRO JAZZ SPECIAL /

SATURDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2010 /

Jazz On The Road are proud to invite two of the London's best upcoming Afro Jazz influenced band; United Vibrations and Awalé!

United Vibrations

UV have built up their following by regularly performing on the streets of London, gaining a reputation for turning pavements into parties. This raw street energy is flowing through their music.

To those used to the existing systems of genre and style classification in use today, you are going to have to view this band differently. Their music is 12tone. A multi-synthesis of Rock, Afro Beat, Punk, Funk, Hip-Hop, Drum 'n' Bass, Jazz and much much more, UV play a unique dance music that draws on the rhythms of the world to form a highly infectious sound that knows no boundaries.

Their debut single RA! is out now from 12tone C.I.C.

Awalé

Awalé is a London based musical project with members from Tunisia, France, Cuba and England. It has been described as Afro Gypsy Funk and was put together by Thibaut Remy from Montpellier, France who has resided in London for the past seven years.

Being an avid listener and having collaborated with a wide range of world music artists, he was inspired to create a genre reflecting his experiences of multicultural London and his love of jazz, afro-beat, funk and gypsy music. The music of Awalé draws on these influences without being traditional, reflecting an openness to different cultures.
